Spiritual Music Recommendations

Here is a list of some artists and album recommendations from Amazon.com to help you with relaxation and meditation.

Healing by Stephen Halpern

Steven Halpern is an internationally acclaimed composer, recording artist and producer who created a paradigm shift in modern instrumental healing music.

Recognized by Keyboard magazine as “One of the most influential artists of the past 35 years who changed the way we compose, market and listen to music,” Steven Halpern continues to set the gold standard in the healing music genre that he pioneered.

His recordings proved that traditional approaches to orchestrating relaxation and healing with classical music were outdated and outmoded. Steven’s music has been heard on 48 Hours (CBS), 20/20 (ABC), BBC, Oprah, and covered in The New York Times, USA Today, Yoga Journal, ABCNews.com and many other media outlets.

Lost in Meditation: Meditative Gregorian Chants by Capella Gregoriana

Gregorian chant is the central tradition of Western plainchant, a form of monophonic liturgical music within Western Christianity that accompanied the celebration of Mass and other ritual services. It is named after Pope Gregory I, Bishop of Rome from 590 to 604, who is traditionally credited for having ordered the simplification and cataloging of music assigned to specific celebrations in the church calendar. The resulting body of music is the first to be notated in a system ancestral to modern musical notation. In general, the chants were learned by the viva voce method, that is, by following the given example orally, which took many years of experience in the Schola Cantorum. Gregorian chant originated in monastic life, in which celebrating the ‘Divine Office’ eight times a day at the proper hours was upheld according to the Rule of St. Benedict. Singing psalms made up a large part of the life in a monastic community, while a smaller group and soloists sang the chants. In its long history, Gregorian chant has been subjected to many gradual changes and some reforms. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_chant)

Reiki Hands of Light By Deuter

Born in postwar Germany, Deuter taught himself the guitar, the flute, harmonica and just about every instrument he could get his hands on, though it wasn’t until after a near-fatal car crash in his early twenties that he decided to pursue a career in music. His first release in 1970, simply entitled D, was to become a modernist classic. D marked the beginning of Deuter’s spiritual and musical journey, ostensibly paving the way for a new genre of music known as “New Age,” which combined acoustic and electronic elements with ethnic instrumentation and nature sounds, such as whale and bird songs, the open sea, wind in the trees, etc.
