Holistic Healing

Holistic healing is a healing practice where the “whole” person is taken into consideration for overall wellbeing. The philosophy behind holistic healing is prevention and wellness, not sickness or disease treatment. The goal of holistic healing is to live a more balanced lifestyle.

Holistic healing can be distinguished from alternative medicine, complementary medicine, and integrative medicine in one main way, physical health is not necessarily the main focus.

However, the experience of physical discomfort can cause a person to seek out a holistic approach to healing. This is good, but it should be noted that holistic healing is not a substitute for seeking conventional medical treatment. Please discuss any decisions you make with your medical doctor before pursuing holistic healing for a medical condition or disease.

It’s good to note that often times a physical illness is not rooted in a physical condition but an emotional or spiritual condition. Sometimes these conditions can manifest themselves in physical disharmony. These imbalances can be treated by a holistic approach to addressing the all aspects to a person’s overall health.

A holistic treatment option is not like taking a pill. You can’t just take a full course of antibiotics and expect to be better. Holistic healing is a lifestyle change. You learn to eat well, take care of your body, love yourself, and spiritually attune yourself to the positive energy of healing. Perhaps, you take yoga, learn to meditate, and educate yourself on herbal remedies. And you eat whole foods and exercise an hour a day. The point is that you learn to live a better and healthier life. Holistic healing is the pursuit of wholeness.
