One God, Same God

Posted By on April 1, 2011

The God that I prayed to so tentatively as a little girl,
Reciting innocent sing-songy words,
Is the same God that my heart prays to now
Without speaking, and at times without even thinking
But by pure, silent Spiritual Communion with My Beloved.
This God is the same God that led the Israelites through the desert,
The same God that lent Her Voice to Christ and received him home again,
That held the weary soul of Bahá’u’lláh as he wrote letters from his prison.
This God is the same God that sat with Gautama under the Bodhi tree,
The same God that called to Mother Theresa,
That walked with Gandhi in his pursuit of Freedom,
That gave Martin Luther King his dream of Equality.
It is the same God that created every leaf of every tree,
Every drop of every ocean,
Every beating heart of every living creature.
The same God that meets us in our Churches,
Temples, Meeting homes, Mosques, and Altars.
In our Gardens, Books, Songs, and Dreams.
The same God that knows your True Name,
Knows every hair upon your head,
And the True Nature of your Soul, without any pretense.
The same God that meets us in the Stillness of Meditation,
That is expressed through us in Moments of Compassion.
The God of Love.
The God of Peace and Infinite Wisdom.
So many Names, Symbols, and Stories… yet they all point to the Same God.
Your God and My God.
The God of Yesterday and the God of Tomorrow.
They are the Same,
They are One.
